Nearly 34.7 million people, about one out of 10 Americans, claimed Irish descent in 2010, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. And that festive bunch has spread the spirit of the Emerald Isle across the States, with celebrations here dating back to the days when the country hadn't even elected its first president.
