Bloomberg GOP Debate: Channel Enters The 2012 Fray

The New Kid On The Debate Block

There's a new kid on the 2012 election block: Bloomberg.

Candidates will have to brush up on their economic talking points for Tuesday night's debate, hosted by Bloomberg and The Washington Post, which will focus solely on the candidates' economic and job creation plans. For Bloomberg TV, the debate, which will focus solely on the economy, launches its official coverage of the 2012 presidential race, branded "Economy Election."

This is the first debate Bloomberg has ever hosted, and marks a more formal presence for the network on the campaign trail.

In a nontraditional debate format, candidates will ditch the podium and debate while seated at a table next to their fellow candidates and surrounded by audience members. Debate moderators, including famed TV host and roundtable connoisseur, Charlie Rose, Bloomberg TV's Julianna Goldman and The Washington Post's Karen Tumulty, will join the candidates at the table.

The GOP candidates running for the Republican nomination have participated in seven debates since May, with a whopping four taking place just in September. The Bloomberg - Washington Post Debate is one of two that the candidates will participate in during the month of October.
