A new survey from Public Policy Polling finds a political split on where voters stand on Chick-Fil-A in North Carolina.

Individuals describing themselves as "very conservative" in the Tar Heel State prefer Chick-Fil-A over KFC by a 61-17 margin, according to the poll. Voters who say they are "very liberal," however, prefer KFC over Chick-Fil-A by a margin of 41-11.

Here's more on the results from PPP:

With Republicans it's 92/4- that's a pretty remarkable figure- it would be hard to find anything else 92% of North Carolina Republicans have a favorable opinion of. Chick-Fil-A is at 51/35 with Democrats, and its 68/22 standing with independents matches its overall numbers. Bojangles has a 63/13 favorability rating and KFC comes in at 60/18/ North Carolinians appear to like their fast food chicken chains a whole lot more than their politicians.

In North Carolina, Chick-Fil-A maintains an overall favorability rating of 68 percent.

The numbers from PPP come in the wake of controversy sparked last month when Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy said that his company supports "the biblical definition of the family unit" on the issue of gay marriage.

Supporters of marriage equality have held "kiss-ins" to protest Chick-fil-A. Debate over the fast food chain has big names in business taking sides, and has ignited criticism between lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

When it comes to the intersection of politics and brands, HuffPost's Nick Wing wrote in June:

Your choice for a daily caffeine fix could be correlated with your political leanings, a recent report from Buyology Inc. suggested.

Republicans ranked Dunkin' Donuts as their "most desired coffee shop," the study of 4,000 Americans' neurological reactions to various brands showed. Democrats chose Starbucks as their favorite chain for a cup of coffee.

According to the report, there was a fair amount of disagreement between Republicans and Democrats on a number of companies.
