Chris Wallace Cellphone Incident: Fox News Stopped By D.C. Police During Live Interview

Fox News Host Stopped By D.C. Police

WASHINGTON -- The next time "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace interviews Ray LaHood, he shouldn't be surprised if the secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation gives him a lecture. Why?

Wallace was caught this week by D.C. police talking on his cellphone while driving -- LaHood's "biggest source of irritation" when he's driving in and around the nation's capital on the weekends. (LaHood will even honk at distracted drivers he sees.)

As Mediabistro relayed, Wallace was on his cellphone doing a live interview when he was pulled over. According to a transcript:

Jamie, I’m going to have a problem. I’m talking to you on a cell phone and a policeman is here. I probably shouldn’t have been talking on a cell phone. So I’m about to get arrested. Goodbye.

Wallace, however, was not arrested.

The District of Columbia has had a hands-free cellphone law in effect since 2004.
