Christian Ponder and Samantha Steele got married on Monday, just two weeks after announcing their engagement.
The Leader-Telegram reports that the wedding took place in St. Croix County Court in Hudson, Wis., on Monday afternoon.
The Vikings quarterback and ESPN sideline reporter confirmed they were dating back in October after rumors about the couple began to circulate on Twitter. On Dec. 4, Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsh tweeted on the couple's engagement after Ponder proposed to Steele via Christmas lights.
Steele may have dropped hints of the impending nuptials to fans on social media, posting a photo of herself with legendary college football coach Bobby Bowden on Instagram last Thursday while tweeting about the marriage advice he gave her.
Given the predominant role social media has played in outing the couple's relationship, it's only fitting that the Twitterverse has much to say on the marriage, with the comments ranging from hearty congratulations to speculation that Steele is pregnant to mean-spirited jokes about Ponder's quarterbacking ability.
For her part, Steele seemed to take the tweets in stride, sending out a tongue-in-cheek thank-you to her fans on Twitter.
Ponder, meanwhile, has been noticeably silent on Twitter since Friday.
