Christopher Lloyd, Cop In Taped Beating Of Special Ed Student, Jailed On Rape Charge (VIDEO)

A south suburban Chicago police officer who was caught on a security camera beating up a high school special education student in May is in an Indiana jail after being arrested on allegations of rape, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Christopher Lloyd, the Dolton police officer who allegedly broke 15-year-old Marshawn Pitts' nose and resigned shortly after a lawyer for the Pitts family released security camera footage of the beating, was arrested last month on sexual assault charges, his father told the Tribune.

Lloyd, who is being held on $110,000 bail, faces up to 20 years for the rape charges. It turns out neither instance is the police officer's first experience on the other side of the law, the Tribune reports:

A lawsuit filed by his ex-wife, Nicole McKinney, last summer alleges he gunned down her new husband Cornel McKinney in front of their children outside their home on Feb. 17, 2008.

A Robbins police officer at the time, Lloyd was suspended after the shooting but eventually found work with Dolton police in January, his father said.

Lloyd was cleared of any wrongdoing after it was determined he shot the man in self-defense. His father, Charles Lloyd, claims the fight captured on the school security camera was provoked by the teenage student.
