One organization is helping ensure people dealing with serious illnesses don't go hungry -- especially on their birthday.

For 25 years, Chuck Piekarski has served as head baker for God's Love We Deliver, an organization committed to improving the health and well-being of those living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other debilitating illnesses. Throughout Piekarski's time with God's Love We Deliver, the baker has made a special cake for every client on their birthday.

In honor of Piekarski's anniversery, God's Love We Deliver is sponsoring a fundraiser to help continue the mission of providing a birthday cake for every client, despite the high volume demand of the task.

“Chuck represents the heart of God’s Love We Deliver. The love he shows in baking for our clients every day, and especially on their birthdays, is simply beautiful," Karen Pearl, President and CEO of God's Love We Deliver told The Huffington Post. "Chuck has taught us all that having a homemade dessert at the end of the meal helps our clients living with illness feel a sense of normalcy and the care of community. For so many of our clients who are alone and struggling with severe illness, getting a birthday cake on their birthday personalized by Chuck is the most special moment in a time that is so challenging. We’re honored that Chuck has spent 25 years supporting our clients and working with our volunteers, making God’s Love such a sweet place.”
