Claudie Anglin, Cruise Ship Cocaine Smuggler, Gets 10 Years In Prison

Cruise Ship Passenger Gets 10 Years For Role In Cocaine Heist

In 2008, four Britons were caught getting off of a cruise ship with $3 million of cocaine strapped to their bodies. This week, another passenger (not one of the original four) was sentenced to jail for that crime, according to the BBC.

A British judge sentenced Claudie Anglin of Birmingham to 10 years in prison for helping smuggle the cocaine. Anglin was waiting at the dock for the four other Britons when they arrived in Southampton in October 2008.

Four others were sentenced to 12 years in jail for bringing 44 pounds into England aboard P&O Cruises' Arcadia, a 1,952 passenger ship. They had picked up the cocaine in St. Lucia while on their 23-day cruise around the Caribbean, USA Today reported.

The four young smugglers were caught when security officers found them suspicious since the other cruise passengers were of retirement age.
