Coco Chanel's Roaring '20s Style... And How To Get The Look

Coco Chanel's Roaring '20s Style

As one of the most instrumental figures in 20th century fashion, Coco Chanel embodied her famous words: "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous." In addition to Chanel's design contributions, including her popular casual women's suit, little black dress, and quilted handbags, it was her bob hairstyle, punchy lips, and straightforward manner that attracted attention. In this 1929 photo, the French couturier stands outside her Paris home adhering to her own style standards in a monochromatic wide-striped shirt, knee-length skirt, two-toned flats, and of course, her signature costume pearls. While we're used to seeing Chanel's designs on others, don't you love this glimpse at her personal style?
