Mmm, roasty.

When the pros drink coffee, loud slurping is highly encouraged.

The development team at Starbucks goes through some 600 to 800 cups of coffee per day in a process called cupping. They sniff (deeply), slurp (loudly) and taste (carefully) each blend before spitting it into a cup with the precision of a wine connoisseur in France. This helps them get the full flavor of the coffee on their tongue and determine if it's good enough to sell in stores.

You too can practice cupping to get the maximum taste of your drink. Maybe you sense some bell pepper-y flavor, or maybe it's chocolate-y smooth. Watch the video above, and practice cupping next time you order. Cheers!
