Colorado State Parks May Be Closed Or Used For Oil And Gas,

Closing up to four state parks, opening others up to oil and gas development, and allowing corporate sponsorship of the parks are among the great lengths Colorado State Parks officials may go to find new ways of saving and raising money for a park system expected to receive no state funding next year.

That's according to a five-year financial plan Colorado State Parks officials are presenting to the State Parks Board this week. The plan counts on the park system receiving no state funding at all, instead relying on user fees, partnerships and other funding sources to pay for park operations.
