I find that one of my biggest challenges with keeping my food-related resolutions is that it's so darn cold outside. Who wants to eat a salad when there's snow on the ground? When January hits, my mind is saying seitin and tofu, but my body wants meaty chili con carne.

So how do you make diet promises to yourself that are sustainable? Part of it is resolving to cut yourself a little slack. Listening to your cravings is important. If I cut out some of my food vices entirely, in a moment of weakness, I'd probably end up on my couch at 11pm watching reruns of Sex and the City with a bucket of spicy buffalo wings.

I've put together some healthier versions of my favorite comfort foods. These recipes aren't about calorie counting--you'll still find cheese and you'll still find my beloved chicken wings. But I've cut down the fat, eliminated gluten and dairy in some places, and given you better ways to have your cake and eat it too. If by cake, you mean rice pudding.
