Cop Stole Money From Drug Dealers: Prosecutor

A former Chicago police officer stole money from drug dealers as part of an agreement with his partner to make quick money, a federal prosecutor said Monday.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan Morrissey told jurors, in closing arguments in the case of former officer Mahmoud "Mike" Shamah, that the cop abused his badge time and again.

"(Shamah) sought all those privileges as a police office as just an easy path to easy money," Morrissey said.

But Shamah's lawyer said his client wasn't part of any conspiracy to routinely steal from drug dealers.
