Crane.tv's Cultural Olympics (VIDEO)

Since last week London, along with the rest of the world, has been caught up in Olympic fever. And while everyone's been keeping their eyes firmly fixed on the daily activities in Stratford's Olympic Park, here at Crane.tv we've been creating some Olympic content of our own.

First up we rehearsed with Aicha McKenzie, creative director and choreographer of the half time entertainment at London 2012, who trained over 400 dancers that will be seen between the beach volleyball, gymnastics and tennis events. McKenzie let us know how her team of accomplished dancers prepared for the Games, having to work as hard as the athletes themselves, before putting one of our own, through her paces. "The Olympics is such an opportunity, it is such a big moment that will never happen again in our lifetime. It's something that I am so honoured to be a part of," McKenzie concludes.

The second part of our cultural Olympic coverage involved taking a fencing lesson with fencer and member of team USA, Tim Morehouse. Morehouse previously won the silver at the men's sabre in Beijing and can ever claim to have taught US President Barack Obama to fence. Almost as impressive as the medal itself! And Morehouse is adamant that his country will do well, "Team US are like the Rocky of the Olympics in that we're a hard team to keep down for too long."

To round off our first week of artistic coverage we staged our own gymnastics, replacing a mat for the rich urban landscape of the city as gymnast Hasit Savani tumbled and back flipped through the streets of London. As the Olympics is only half way through stay tuned to Crane.tv for even more coverage in the coming week including a further sporting challenge for our team, Olympic cabaret and even an intimate moment with US basketball player Kobe Bryant.
