CU-Boulder Libby Hall Death: No Obvious Signs Of Foul Play, Police Say

University of Colorado police this morning announced that an initial investigation into the death of a man found Tuesday night in a Libby Hall dormitory room on the Boulder campus revealed no obvious signs of foul play.

The man -- who has not yet been identified -- was found around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night after it was called in to dispatchers. Officials have not yet identified an cause of death, but police said Tuesday night there was no apparent threat to the campus community.

In an email this morning, CU police spokesman Ryan Huff said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

The Boulder County Coroner's Office will release the man's name once he has been identified and family members have been notified.

Officials have not confirmed whether the male was a CU student or if he lived in Libby Hall.

Libby Hall houses about 400 students.

Freshman Anne Gostling said she was downstairs in the lobby when police responded.

"There were a lot of people crying," she said. "It was just weird knowing two floors above you someone died while you were just going about your life. It was really surprising."

Freshman Dan Le said he saw some of the police officers and medics outside his window, but didn't realize what had happened until he got a text from a friend asking him if he was OK.

"She just texted me that someone in Libby Hall had died, but I didn't know what was going on," he said. "I don't know who it is yet, but, either way, it's sad to think about." ___
