Daley Predicts Obama Landslide

Mayor Richard Daley predicted a large Barack Obama win Tuesday after casting his vote for Illinois' junior senator at Old St. Mary's Church:

This is a great honor for any city to have. . . . You have people from all over the country -- all over the world coming to Chicago to see . . . when he wins, walks out there and accepts it. That is historical

I don't care who you are. I don't care what age you are or where you come from. Everybody will feel like a child, very proud, very personal in a way and very emotional in ways. Especially in the African-American community. You talk to them. No one ever believed it [that America would have a black president] in 2008. That's why this is a great country. That's why we're the envy of the world.

Daley is hopeful that an Obama presidency will help the city land the 2016 Olympics and allow Chicago to improve its roads, bridges and other public works as part of a national investment in infrastructure under a presumed President Obama.
