David Adler's Carolyn Morse Ely House In Lake Bluff Hits The Market (PHOTOS)

A pair of prolific architect David Adler's designs in the ritzy North Shore suburb of Lake Bluff hit the market on Monday.

The French-inspired, Adler-designed mansion at 111 Moffett Road in Lake Bluff was originally built for the estate of Carolyn Morse Ely in 1922 and was patterned after La Lanterne in Versailles, according to its listing.

The 7,229 square foot home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features original sconces and chandeliers, plus antique restored wallpapers, and is situated on about six acres of gardens with a ravine view.

All that for $5.995 million.

Just next door, at 115 Moffett Road, is the Ely House's beautiful French-styled gatehouse, which was built in 1916. At 4,966 square feet, the home -- expanded and renovated by Rugo/Raff Architects in 2000 -- has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, nine-foot ceilings and a hypnotic wading pool on its grounds. The price tag for the gatehouse? $2.295 million.

The two properties join yet another Adler-designed mansion in Lake Bluff that remains on the market at just under $2 million.
