Death Valley Time Lapse Shows Stunning Night Sky (VIDEO)

WATCH: Death Valley 'Dreamlapse'

This "dreamlapse" of Death Valley is simply stunning.

The skies above the famed desert valley are put on display as the stars dance across the frame and a pink aurora is seen on the horizon. The filmmakers create what they call "star trails," Picasso-esque lines of light, using long exposure times and the Earth's natural rotation.

The three-minute film was shot and edited by Gavin Heffernan of Sunchaser Pictures, and uploaded to Vimeo in April. The time-lapse is the second in an installment of Death Valley projects.

Google also released some stunning time-lapse images of the planet recently. The long-form GIFs show some startling environmental changes including deforestation, melting glaciers and urban sprawl.
