Denver Foundation Campaign For Hunger Relief Aims To Keep Poor Kids Fed This Summer

It’s the final week to donate to The Denver Foundation’s Campaign for Hunger Relief to help local impoverished children gain access to food this summer when school is out. For many poor families, the Summer months can be especially difficult because it’s not just where these children learn, it’s a place where they can get a proper meal.

The Campaign for Hunger Relief began in April and has run through May to help raise $30,000 for metro-area food pantries to have the proper resources to feed area children. The Denver Foundation was founded in 1925 and to date has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for local education, civic and hunger-related community projects.

According to The Denver Foundation’s website, food pantries have seen double-digit increases in the number of people seeking emergency food supplies since the current economic crisis began. That combined with Colorado’s little-to-no state support for emergency food pantries and soup kitchens leaves Denver’s poor with few options.

Make a donation of $50 or more before Sunday, May 15 and receive a Mad Greens Gift Card and two-for-one tickets to the Curious Theatre’s production of “A Number” over Memorial Day weekend at the end of May.
