Mississippi Teen Charged With Capital Murder In Alleged Hate Crime

A white Mississippi teen accused in the fatal hit-and run of a black man could face the death penalty if convicted on capital murder charges in the case.

Mississippi authorities upgraded the charges against Deryl Dedmon, 19, from murder to capital murder. Police say he's the ringleader of a group of teens who targeted and beat 49-year-old auto plant worker James Craig Anderson. Dedmon is accused of intentionally running over Anderson in a pickup truck. Prosecutors allege it was a hate crime.
