Disabled Man Found Dead In Van

New York City police say that a 48 year-old disabled man was found dead in the back of a van where he had been left for six hours.

Eason Alonzio, 48, was discovered unconscious inside a Ford van parked on Lexington Avenue in Harlem around 3:30 PM yesterday.

A passer-by noticed Alonzio in the afternoon and alerted police. Alonzio was pronounced dead at the scene.

CBS News reports that the van was owned by The Association For The Help Of Retarded Children, and that Alonzio was among a group of people being dropped off at a day program around 9 a.m. For some reason he was left inside the van for six hours in 91 degree heat, according to Fox NY.

A cause of death has not yet been determined, according to the Times. The van driver and a caretaker were questioned by the police and released.

The AHRC has not yet commented on the incident.
