Donald Trump on Thursday sought to stifle media reports that his administration is engulfed “in chaos” and “in meltdown” by claiming that the U.S. under his presidency was “the envy of the world.”
The White House is running very smoothly and the results for our Nation are obviously very good. We are the envy of the world. But anytime I even think about making changes, the FAKE NEWS MEDIA goes crazy, always seeking to make us look as bad as possible! Very dishonest!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 15, 2018
But his early morning Twitter boast attacking “the FAKE NEWS MEDIA” did not go over well, with many folks suggesting America under Trump is actually a global “laughingstock.”
You spelled “laughing stock” wrong.

Dude, how many times did Obama have to say ‘everything fine, nothing to see here.’ I will give you a hint. NEVER!
— Erich McElroy (@erichmcelroy) November 15, 2018
We aren’t the envy of anyone. We are a laughing stock. *side note.....they are laughing at you not with you
— Joe Munger (@The_Munger) November 15, 2018
I’m sure it’s exactly the opposite.
— You Know Nothing Don Snow (@Ziphrodes) November 15, 2018
We are not the envy of the world because you are president. They feel sorry for us.
— Training For Gobi (@Gobi2016) November 15, 2018
Lots o’ lies to unpack there Donnie…. Take it from an outsider: we feel sorry for Americans and we thank God everyday we don’t live in your country right now.

If you have to tell us that things are running smoothly, it’s a great indicator that they are not.

Super smoothly, yes. pic.twitter.com/xxnjBQJ8lC

16 firings or resignations. Yeah, very smooth!

Thank you for the reassurance, Mein Führer.
