Donna Summer Was Also An Advertising Star (VIDEO)

Donna Summer's Other Career (VIDEO)

Not only does disco owe a debt to Donna Summer; Madison Avenue does, too.

Summer, who died of cancer at age 63 on Thursday, was a major contributor to commercials long after her popularity crested, Advertising Age pointed out. One song alone, "Love To Love You Baby," served as the soundtrack in commercials for Diesel Loverdose perfume (2011, shown above), Citroen (2007) and Coca-Cola (2000), the trade publication said.

But many of us will remember her original version of "She Works Hard For the Money" in a 1990 Burger King ad trumpeting 89-cent Whoppers. The track was later reworked in a 1999 McDonald's ad in which Summer sang, "McDonald's Gives You More For The Money," according to the Baltimore Sun.
