"Moving into a new media reality, listeners have more choices and less loyalty to traditional channels. Loyalty revolves around messages and issues that speak to listeners. No one would have ever imagined the present XM/Sirius footprint years ago. The reality of streaming is a constant reminder that our listeners have choices and multiple platforms in which to consume content." --Preston Middleton, Next Wave Entertainment LLC

Why are you so excited about the new radio broadcast?

What’s most exciting about the program is that it allows me to reach the masses in an up close and personal way. The fact that we're streaming live only makes it better. I've learned a great deal about creating a program that's both engaging and entertaining with a focus on enlightening and educating our listeners.

My predecessors, shock jock Howard Stern and Dish Nation, introduced the concept of streaming which was the best thing that ever happened to radio. Our programming won’t just be about airing crazy stuff to provoke a response, but will be all about substantive content. We’re strategically releasing content that positively affect our listeners in the most relevant ways.

One can only take so much mindless conversation and rhetoric; therefore, we’re connecting with people on a more relatable level. Although, I will include celebrity guest features, the conversation will be about what concerns and affects us as individuals, families, and communities with a mixture of soft-serve but effective coaching strategies, good old-fashioned common sense and wisdom.

“I give my listeners the tools they need to start living a profoundly extraordinary life in an engaging and entertaining context.” – Dr. D Ivan Young

Oscar Hines of Genuine Journey Media issued the following statement: “We are excited to welcome Dr. D. Ivan Young to the KYND Radio family (www.kyndradio.com). Over the years we’ve seen the emergence of pop culture Therapist and “Life Coaches” that take a cookie cutter approach to counseling their patients. What will the new program deliver for listeners?

America is in a different place now—viewers and listeners have choices. People are sick and tired of mindless television and ridiculous radio. Honestly, when I get in my car, I'm either listening to satellite radio or my USB.

When my producers and I we're perfecting this concept the first question I asked everyone in the room was what makes them tune into programming. The answers were similar, people watch and listen to the things that directly benefit them or address their concerns. I wanted to be more than “just another” program but a part of a person’s lifestyle. Depending on where you live, the average person spends an hour or more commuting. Because of streaming technology, whether you’re on the subway, a bus or in your car, we can educate, enlighten and engage listeners on demand. As well as interact via various social media and mobile channels. This allows the audience to actually become part of and feel closely connected with the program. In real-time, we can shift from a pre-formatted program to an interactive discussion. Not only does this help us as a program but it keeps us in touch with the things that concerns people the most.

How does your new program reinforce your message on relationships and other topics?

Today, people absorb content based on what benefits or interest them. Choosing this platform was a no-brainer. I believe that radio, as we know it, will extinct within the next five to ten years. Even television programming is moving to viewer controlled preferences. In other words, people tune in to what they want to think about, focus on or understand and not what a network wants them to watch. Though I became widely known for discussing and writing about personal and romantic relationships, I am an expert in personality type, human behavior and conflict management. Those three things are at the core of everything we care about. From dating, to brand expansion, to Trump's latest antics, people want to discuss and understand the things that are affecting their lives. This format allows us to thoroughly explore those issues in an up close and personal way.

Talk with us about your upcoming Coach of the Year award from the Black Life Coaches Network (BLCN)?

For years, people of color especially African-Americans have resisted seeking coaching and counseling when challenged with life issues. Because of organizations like The International Coach Federation and the Black Life Coach Network (BLCN), global standards now exist that differentiates non-qualified coaches through certification and credentialed programs. The Black Life Coach Network is the most respected international organization for those who work primarily with urban professional and communities. The executive board and membership-based organization consists of the most prominent, brilliant and influential minds in the coaching industry. Their code of ethics and standards set the bar for professional coaches. I’m humbled and honored to be selected by such an esteemed organization.

"Dr. Young came to the Black Life Coaches Network in 2014 as a bestselling author, exceptional relationship expert, and entertaining motivational speaker. In 3 years, he has accomplished more than some could in 10 years. Today Dr. Young is known as the Reality Check Doctor and you will find him on TV One's Hit Program Fatal Attraction; hosting his own syndicated radio show on KYND 1520 AM; and touring nationally as America's #1 Relationship Expert. This level of success isn't achieved without strategically planning your growth and preparing yourself for the unexpected. Dr. D Ivan Young, the Black Life Coaches Network is proud to call you the 2017 Coach of the Year." --Dr. Towanna Burroughs, President of BLCN

What are some of your upcoming events?

Events are underway to share with personal and professional groups, as well as social and faith-based organizations. My goal is to help catalyze the conversation about family, life, love, and relationships. It doesn't matter if it's a couple’s workshop in the church or working with emerging brands while creating an environment that's focused on elevating the emotional intelligence of its corporate teams. My goal is to bring enlightenment and awareness to the people that need it most. At the end of the day, as long as I’m using my talents and gifts to help bring out the best in people through relevant and resourceful solutions, then I'm doing what I was created to do!
