The stage was set, the lights were lit and the room was full of anticipation.

On November 18th at the fabulous New World Stage in New York City, the third annual Global Spin Award housed some of the most talented individuals in the music industry. This award show is unlike any of its kind as it transfers the spotlight from the artist to the DJ. Many in attendance gave praise to the tireless works of the men and women behind the music alongside.

This year's show was televised for the first time by one of music's icons, Sean "Diddy" Combs Revolt network and was hosted by the beautiful LaLa Anthony whose career began as a DJ.

It was a night to celebrate the backbone of the music industry, the DJ's. Many of the celebrity guests, which include Kevin Liles, Neyo, MC Lyte, and many more gave thanks and appreciation to all the resilient hard working DJ's around the globe. Everyone involved in the nights events expressed their admiration and gratitude for the founder and creator of the Global Spin Awards, Shawn Prez. Subsequently to Swizz Beats impromptu DJ set, he announced his donation of $100,000 towards next years awards.

The two major awakenings I had experienced at the Global Spin Awards:

1. Life will challenge your persistence in your passion. Make sure you are always pushing forward even when no one is watching. Giving up is never an option. You only fail when you quit.

2. Do something you love everyday. You must take the time to do things you enjoy. Everyday ask yourself two questions. First, "Did I have any fun pursuing my passion today?" Second, "Did I get anything done today to fulfill my purpose?"

The attendees and the stars of the Global Spin Awards all had two things in common resilencey and persistence. If you can answer both questions positively daily, then congratulations you are on the road to success and being celebrating because you never gave in and you never gave up.

Overall The Global Spin Awards was a night to celebrate and acknowledge the world's most gifted DJ's who have contributed to music and provide them the credit they are due. I am in anticipation of The Global Spin Award 2015.
