Durbin: Burris Testimony Incomplete, Raises Questions About Appointment

ATHENS, Greece -- U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin says he believes the testimony Roland Burris gave to Illinois lawmakers about his appointment to the U.S. Senate was incomplete and a Senate ethics investigation under way.

Durbin made those comments Wednesday while on a trip to Greece to discuss security in the region.

The Illinois Democrat says he wants to be fair and review all of the documents, transcripts and statements involved.

But Durbin says he believes that the public statements Burris has made have raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his appointment to the U.S. Senate by ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Durbin says those statements need to be examined carefully. He says he believes that the investigation the Senate is undertaking is appropriate and that he'll wait for that investigation to be completed.
