Eliza Coupe Wishes 'Happy Endings' Got More Support From ABC

How The 'Happy Endings' Cast Handles ABC's Mistreatment

It's been a tumultuous year for "Happy Endings." ABC has struggled to find a permanent home for the fast-paced, whip-smart ensemble comedy that hasn't been able to translate its cult-following into ratings success. In an interview with ET Online, "Happy Endings" star Eliza Coupe discussed the cast's frustrations with the show's lack of support from the network and how the cast handles it.

"It's a running joke on set when we film something we all think is incredible that someone goes, 'Oh man, that was so good -- it's too bad no one will ever see it.' It's the same as every year, we just never know. The network and the studio love the show, and they have been very good to us. They have given us a chance and kept us around for three seasons. Do we wish there was more publicity? Yeah. But it's undeniable we're making a great show. I just wish we had more of a push, and I really hope we get a fourth season -- but that's not up to me."

ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee claimed the network was behind "Happy Endings" -- and the since-as-good-as-canceled "Don't Trust The B In Apartment 23" -- at the 2013 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.

"We love those two shows. They are incredibly distinctive, they're incredibly well-written ... [but] we didn't have much place to put them ... We're proudly behind them on Tuesdays ... 'Happy Endings' is ready [to stand on its own] and we're going to do that as we go ... These are shows that we love," Lee said.

While "Dont Trust The B" is now nowhere to be seen on ABC's lineup, the network scheduled back-to-back episodes of "Happy Endings" for Tuesday nights ... until March 26, when it will be pulled from the network's midseason schedule in favor of the "Dancing With The Stars" results show.

It remains uncertain whether "Happy Endings" will be renewed for a fourth season.

UPDATE: ABC announced Wednesday night that it was moving "Happy Endings" to Friday nights at 9 p.m ET.
