Emily Blunt Wanted For Films Starring Johnny Depp And Tom Cruise

Emily Blunt Is About To Be Everywhere

It's a good thing everyone totally loves Emily Blunt, because she's about to blow up. According to Variety, Blunt is negotiating to star opposite Tom Cruise in "All You Need Is Kill," a twisty sci-fi blockbuster from frenetic director Doug Liman.

As if that weren't enough, Blunt is also reportedly one of the three finalists to play Nora Charles opposite Johnny Depp's Nick in the upcoming reboot of "The Thin Man." Per Variety, Kristen Wiig and Emma Stone are her main competition.

Couple those two potential star-making parts with work in "The Five-Year Engagement" as well as "Looper," and Blunt seems moments away from the A list. Not that her "Five-Year Engagement" director Nicholas Stoller is surprised.

"She's such an amazing actress," he told HuffPost during a recent interview. "She's so funny, she has such an amazing intelligence and she's very pretty, obviously. But she's still likable. Women identify with her, men want to date her. She's got that Meg Ryan thing. She has a different persona than her, but she has the same sort of thing happening."

Blunt, who rose to fame after her scene-stealing performance in "The Devil Wears Prada" ("That, I can't even talk about"), has already had a busy 2012; she co-starred with Ewan McGregor in "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" and features in the indie dramedy "Your Sister's Sister," which screens at the Tribeca Film Festival. In "Five-Year Engagement," she plays Jason Segel's better-half, and she'll brandish a shotgun with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in "Looper."

Per THR, her "All You Need Is Kill" role would find her playing a top solider opposite Cruise's rookie. The film mixes "Source Code" and "Groundhog Day," and focuses on Cruise's inexperienced fighter, a man who keeps reliving the same battle with the hope of surviving.
