Eugène Atget MoMA Exhibit Showcases Parisian Street Style (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Looking Back At Early Parisian Street Style

Long before street style photographers like Garance Doré sought out fashionable subjects, Eugène Atget documented Paris through photography from the late 19th century through the early 20th century. Although his photographs of people are the minority in Atget's large body of work, which includes over 8,500 photographs, they are a fascinating example of the way street merchants and gypsies dressed in Paris at the time.

For the first time in 25 years, the Museum of Modern Art will display an extensive exhibit of Atget's work. The show, titled, "Documents pour Artistes" after the sign that was outside of Atget's studio door in Paris, is open from February 6—April 9, 2012 at MoMA.
