Eusebio Acosta Allegedly Steals $75,000 Worth Of Soup In Florida

Move over, Soup Nazi, there's a new food fascist in hot water.

Eusebio Diaz Acosta, 51, of Orlando, Fla., is accused of stealing a tractor trailer carrying $75,000 worth of Campbell's Soup, NBC Miami reports.

Broward Circuit Judge John Hurley was dumfounded when he saw Acosta's case on Monday, calling it "very unusual."

"This is the first time the court’s ever seen $75,000 worth of soup stolen," Hurley said in court, just before setting Acosta's bond at $25,000.

Acosta allegedly stole the trailer from a Central Florida truck stop at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, the Sun Sentinel reports. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper tracked the rig's GPS signal and arrested Acosta a short time later.

A passenger fled the trailer during the traffic stop and jumped over a nearby fence on the Florida Turnpike. That suspect is still at large.

The total value of the vehicle and soup was $350,000, police reports indicated. Acosta faces charges of grand theft of cargo and grand theft auto, WFLX reports. He's been charged with theft in the past.

In court, he told Hurley that he only has about $1,000 in his bank account.
