Author Thomas Ricks Plans To Leave

Just two days ago, Washington Post staffers were clinking champagne glasses and celebrating a six-Pulitzer sweep. But now a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner might be heading out the door.

Post military correspondent Thomas Ricks is expected to leave in this latest round of company buyouts.

"I haven't made a final decision," Ricks wrote in an e-mail to Politico, "but yes, I expect to take it."

Ricks has been at the Post since 2000, and now has until May 15 to make that final decision. He would not have been eligible for the last round of buyouts in 2006. Then, a staffer needed 10 years at the paper; now its five. And the age requirement dropped from 54 to 50.
