Filmmaker Ken Burns Spotted At White House

Famed documentarian Ken Burns was spotted walking into the West Wing on Monday for what appeared to be a meeting with administration officials.

The filmmaker behind the Baseball, Civil War and Jazz films was accompanied by two other men, one of who took snapped photos of Burns with the White House in the background.

Burns, incredibly nice and in a talkative mood, was holding a massive binder for his upcoming project: "The National Parks: America's Best Idea."

That 12-part series, Burns told the Huffington Post, is due out in September. Filmed over the course of six-years, it will be a history of the parks, he said, not something akin to a travel documentary.

Burns had long been supported by General Motors Corp, but the company recently stopped funding his work due to the financial crisis. "The National Parks: America's Best Idea" is his last GM-backed project.
