Floyd Cardoz, Formerly Of Tabla, Wins 'Top Chef Masters' Season Three

'Top Chef Masters' Crowns New Winner

Floyd Cardoz has won Top Chef Masters season three. The Bombay-born chef, formerly of now-closed Danny Meyer Indian restaurant Tabla, beat out California luminaries Traci Des Jardins and Mary Sue Milliken for first place and its attendant $100,000 in prize money. (Cardoz is donating his winnings to the Young Scientists Cancer Research Fund, in memory of his father, who died of cancer.) By winning, Cardoz joins the ranks of better-known chefs Rick Bayless, of Frontera Grill in Chicago, and Marcus Samuelsson, of Red Rooster and formerly Aquavit, both in New York, who won second and third season respectively.

Here's Cardoz's exit interview from Bravo:

Next, Cardoz will head another Danny Meyer production, North End American Grill in Battery Park City, New York. The restaurant, which is calling its cuisine (cover your ears, Frank Bruni!) "roof-to-table," marks a departure for the chef, who focused on high-end Indian cuisine throughout his tenure at Tabla.
