Two hosts of “Fox & Friends” blasted rival news networks for supposedly failing to cover the emotional speech delivered at the Republican National Convention by Patricia Smith, mother of an American killed in the 2012 Benghazi attack.
“Why isn’t this getting coverage?” cohost Steve Doocy demanded on Monday’s broadcast.
As it turned out, CNN, MSNBC and C-SPAN covered Smith’s speech, but Fox News and its sister network Fox Business didn’t.
According to PolitiFact:
“Fox News went to commercial right before Smith took the stage and returned to a phone interview between Donald Trump and Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly. Lou Dobbs Tonight on the Fox Business channel had footage of the speech, but no audio.”
That fact was also lost on “Fox & Friends” cohost Brian Kilmeade.
“I was on the floor for that,” Kilmeade said. “I did not know that no networks covered her. Nobody covered those remarks live, but almost everybody covered Mr. Khan’s remarks live.”
Kilmeade was referring to the speech given at the Democratic National Convention by Khizr Khan, father of U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, who was killed while serving in Iraq in 2004. Khan blasted the Republican presidential candidate’s call to ban Muslims from entering the country, and offered to share his copy of the Constitution with him.
Fox News didn’t carry those comments live while CNN, MSNBC and C-SPAN all did, according to PolitiFact.
