Free Gas , Vegan Food, Lettuce Bikinis: New PETA Campaign

PETA has issued a press release about an upcoming event:

As motorists gear up for the holiday weekend, PETA's Lettuce Ladies--wearing nothing but strategically placed lettuce leaves--will hand out free Tofurky brand mock-turkey sandwiches and two free gallons of gas to the first 50 people at a Hess gas station in New York on Thursday. PETA is "doing lunch" at the gas station to let drivers know that the best thing that they can do for the environment is jettison their meat-based diets. Eating meat is a more environmentally harmful habit than driving an SUV.

Eating just a single pound of meat is the environmental equivalent of driving more than 40 miles in an SUV. Researchers at the University of Chicago determined that switching to a vegan diet is more effective at countering global warming than switching from a standard car to a Toyota Prius.

"In a time of rising gas prices and rising concern for the environment, we're going the extra mile to help Americans fill up on vegan fuel for their tummies and gas for their tanks," says Lettuce Lady Colleen Higgins.

The event will take place at 502 W. 45th St, New York City, on Thursday, July 3rd, at 2 PM.
