Traffic was shut down near Midway Airport on Chicago's Southwest Side early Friday after a freight train derailed, causing cars to hang over the overpass near 47th Street and Archer Avenue.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, emergency crews responded to the derailment about 6:40 a.m., and police closed 47th Street and Archer between Kedzie and Pulaski.

No injuries have been reported and the Sun-Times reports that there are no hazardous materials onboard.

Cranes are being sent to the scene to realign the freight train cars.

Anyone traveling to Midway Airport should avoid Archer and take the Stevenson Expressway, NBC Chicago reports.
