Garrett Jones came through in the clutch on Sunday when the Pirates first baseman tied the game against the Reds by doing something that no Pittsburgh player had ever done in team history.
With one man on in the bottom of the eighth, Jones launched a monster home run that sailed over the seats and out of the PNC Park before splashing into the Allegheny River. The homer tied the game at four.
Jones is only the second player to hit a homer into the river. The first ball to splash into the river at PNC Park came in 2002 from former Houston Astros first baseman Daryle Ward, according to the Associated Press.

The 31-year-old's homer traveled an estimated 463 feet, per MLB's official Twitter account.
''It was a swing of anger,'' Jones told reporters after Pittsburgh's extra-innings win. ''I haven't been getting many big hits lately and I put everything I had into that swing. It felt pretty good. I wasn't expecting to hit the ball in the river, which was pretty cool, but it was great to come through and give us a chance to win.''
