Is Geraldo Rivera getting ready to step into the ring for the New Jersey Senate seat? He recently took a shot at Newark mayor Cory Booker, a potential candidate for the Democratic nomination, on Twitter.
Rivera revealed in January that he is "truly contemplating" running for Senate in New Jersey. On Friday night, he tweeted:
The Star-Ledger reported that Booker did not respond to Rivera's message, but did jump into action on Friday night, sending a police officer to a car accident and posing for a picture with fraternity members on a scavenger hunt. He recently rescued a dog from the cold, and once helped save a woman from a burning building.
Rivera had said that he is thinking about running for Senate against Senator Frank Lautenberg or Booker, who is also considering a bid for the seat. Lautenberg has since announced that he will be retiring after this term.
"There can be a new vitalization of the Republican Party," Rivera said about his potential Senate campaign. He has not announced a decision yet, though the results of a recent poll did not bode well for the Fox News host. Two-thirds of respondents said that they would not be likely vote for Rivera, and 48 percent of Republican respondents also said they would probably not vote for him.
