The 71st annual Golden Globes nominations have arrived. Nominations were presented Thursday morning, honoring the best in film and television via comedy/musical and drama designations.
This year's top film nominees are "12 Years a Slave" and "American Hustle," with seven nods each. "House of Cards" and "Behind the Candelabra" lead the TV categories with four each. "Breaking Bad" and "The Good Wife" also fared well, and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" became a surprise freshman nominee. Julia Louis-Dreyfus pulled off the impressive feat of garnering recognition for both TV and film, for HBO's "Veep" and the dramedy "Enough Said."
Olivia Wilde, Zoe Saldana and Aziz Ansari announced the awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., where the Golden Globes will take place. The honors are selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

"Argo" and "Les Misérables" took home last year's top honors on the film side, while "Homeland" and "Girls" dominated the television categories. "Les Misérables" also produced two acting honorees: Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway. Daniel Day-Lewis ("Lincoln"), Jessica Chastain ("Zero Dark Thirty"), Jennifer Lawrence ("Silver Linings Playbook") and Christoph Waltz ("Django Unchained") also nabbed awards. Among the TV winners were Damian Lewis ("Homeland"), Claire Danes ("Homeland"), Don Cheadle ("House of Lies") and Lena Dunham ("Girls").
This year's Globes will take place on Jan. 12, 2014. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are reprising their hosting duties for the ceremony, which will air on NBC.
