Google+ Drops Age Restriction From 18 To 13 Years Old

QUICK POLL: Do You Use Google+?

Exciting news! Google+ -- Google's answer to Facebook that launched last year -- has at long last opened its doors to teens. Last week the company announced its age restriction to register has been officially dropped from 18 to 13 years old.

Bradley Horowitz, a Product VP at Google, explained: "We want to help teens build meaningful connections online. We also want to provide features that foster safety alongside self-expression."

This means that Google has attached a few extra safety measures to Google+ to take into account a younger audience. See the slideshow below for a short overview of what to expect. Google has also launched a new Google+ Safety Center for teens (and adults).

So, what do you guys think about this? Are your friends using Google+? Would you use it differently than you use Facebook? Sound off in the comments below or tweet us your thoughts @huffposteen.
