Greyson James Carroll McCuddy: Kara DioGuardi, Husband Welcome Son

It's a boy for Kara DioGuardi and husband Mike McCuddy! People magazine reports that the singer-songwriter and former "American Idol" judge welcomed son Greyson James Carroll McCuddy on Jan. 31 in Los Angeles, via gestational surrogate.

The 42-year-old DioGuardi had suffered numerous miscarriages and complications in pregnancy in the past before welcoming their first child together. In her 2011 memoir, "A Helluva a High Note," DioGuardi detailed the unsuccessful IVF treatments she was undergoing while a judge on the hit FOX singing competition. Ultimately, she quit the show. "I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of eighteen-hour work days and live TV," she wrote. "Leaving was painful and there will always be a part of me that wanted to stay. But my desire to be in control of my destiny was larger than my need to be a household name."
