Grover Norquist: Ted Cruz 'Crashed And Burned,' Kept Republicans From Delaying Obamacare

Norquist: Cruz 'Crashed And Burned,' Hurt GOP Cause

Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, said he thinks Republicans could have delayed the implementation of Obamacare if it weren't for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

“I think it was very possible for us to delay the implementation of Obamacare for a year until Cruz came along and crashed and burned,” Norquist told the Washington Post, referencing Cruz's long anti-Obamacare speech on the Senate floor.

During his 21-hour speech on Sept. 24 and 25, Cruz read "Green Eggs and Ham," cited "The Little Engine That Could," talked about Nazis and compared Congress to the World Wrestling Federation.

Norquist isn't the only conservative to criticize Cruz for his speech. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) hit Cruz's "extended oratory" and said he rejected some of Cruz's comments about American troops.
