Haunted houses are scary. So why would you want to live in one? We certainly wouldn't. But if you're one of those rare souls willing to brave a creepy home, you might want to start your search in these towns.
By analyzing towns with the highest inventory of both houses that are old and houses that are vacant, real estate website Trulia has developed a formula for finding haunted homes. If their calculations prove true, it would seem that ghosts have a particular affinity for cape towns, with both Cape May, New Jersey and Cape Cod, Massachusetts counting among the towns with the most homes that fit Trulia's criteria.
Indeed, it seems Trulia may be on to something, as both towns have been known to have more than the occasional haunting.
But despite the possibility for goosebumps, ghastly ghoulies or the heebie-jeebies, some are actually attracted to paranormal activity in a potential abode. A recent survey found that about one-third of homebuyers would consider purchasing a house that's haunted, with 15 percent saying they wouldn't even mind paying full market value.
And entrepreneurs may be among the most likely. Haunted houses can make owners some big bucks if they prove to be a successful tourist attraction.
