Hayden Panettiere Delays Wedding After Ukraine Crisis

Hayden Panettiere's Wedding Plans Are On Hold

Hayden Panettiere's wedding plans are currently on hold.

Panettiere opened up to Parade magazine about planning her nuptials and revealed things have stalled due to the crisis in Eastern Europe.

"Everything that’s happening in Ukraine definitely put a hold on things," the 24-year-old "Nashville" star told Parade. "But we have time."

The actress' fiance, 38-year-old professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko, is from the region. His brother, Vitali Klitschko, is at the helm of the democratic reform movement embroiled in the conflict, Time notes. He is the leader of the UDAR political party and submitted forms to register as a Kiev mayoral candidate last month, according to Russia's ITAR-TASS. He is championing closer ties to Europe and plans to run for president in 2015.

In December, Panettiere traveled to Kiev with her future husband in a show of support for the protesters there, People magazine reported.

"Your fight is not falling on deaf ears," she told the crowd. "The world will hear you. And as an American I want you to know that I stand by you, I support your fight, and I will support it until the country of Ukraine in its entirety reflects the beauty, the true beauty of Ukrainian people. Keep fighting. I love you all."

Panettiere and Klitschko got engaged last October.
