Our Heart: "The Center of intellectual, moral, emotional, and Spiritual life.
God does HIS work in the heart, writing HIS word on hearts.
Belief resides in the heart, and it is the dwelling place of God."*
Hope: "Trustful Expectation, particularly with reference to the fulfillment of God's promises."*
Holy Spirit: "Third person of the Trinity though whom God acts, reveals HIS will, empowers individuals, and discloses HIS personal presence in the Old Testament and New Testament."*
(*Dictionary concordance of the Holy Bible).
I once asked someone, familiar with the Bible for many years, to explain to me
the Holy Spirit. My friend pointed me to read Romans and Acts in the Bible to learn more.
And as I read, and studied, it became clear that many people who talk of "that voice that is inside me, following my heart, and having an internal compass" is what I believe is the Holy Spirit indwelling in us.
"God inside us, part of the Trinity: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit."
And what a compass it is!
We must understand that the heart is much more than a living organ, that it contains our emotions, our hopes, our dreams, and God (God is Love: "God is Love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." John 4:16).
The compass of the Holy Spirit guides us, with the Trinity fulfilled. The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Our heart "is our inner being out of which comes good or bad words and actions that reflect the true nature of a person. The conscience is associated with the heart. Emotions such as gladness or sorrow dwell in the heart. Therefore, God does HIS work in the heart, writing HIS word on hearts and renewing them. Belief resides in the heart, and it is the dwelling place of God."*
Is hope then connected with faith? Faith, which is "trust or dependence on a person or thing" and hope both live in belief, which resides in the heart.
And the heart is "the center of intellectual, moral, emotional, and spiritual life."
So we can connect faith, hope, and the heart knowing that believing and "Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1)
Can this all be explained, written, or simply felt? Is the old proverb "listen to your heart" one that rings true, and does belief hold precious meaning?
Hope does not mean that what we wanted will happen. In reference to the Bible concordance, "hope is the confidence that what God has done for us in the past guarantees our participation in what God will do in the future."* And what he has done for us in the past, which is loved us, is what he does for us in the present and in the future. "God is love."
We must then think of love as we feel hope, and our heart, and the Holy Spirit's empowerment.
As humans, our hope gives us life, thoughts of love and happiness. Hope feels like a living organism, thriving, pulsing, breathing in us.
And when we feel hope, when we feel love, when we feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, our hearts are full.
