Hillary Clinton, Like All Of Us, Hopes To Be As Great As Beyoncé One Day

They both hope to run the world.

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton fielded an unexpected question from a voter at a town hall on Wednesday, asking if she would rather be Grammy award-winning artist Beyoncé Knowles or president.

“Now, if I really had a choice, I’d rather be president because I can’t sing,” Clinton said. “Nobody would pay to see me sing or dance. Even when I was a way lot younger, it wasn’t in the cards for me.”

The former secretary of state went on to praise the singer-songwriter and actress, asking the crowd if they’d ever seen her perform live.

“You see her on TV, it’s impressive. You see her in person, you’re just stunned,” Clinton continued. “Thinking like, how does she do that? Really. I mean, she sings, she’s up, she’s down. It’s just so amazing.”

Her comments were met with laughter from voters here, many of them University of Iowa students taking a break from studying for finals in order to attend her town hall.

Clinton has continued to build support in Iowa. A Des Moines Register/Bloomberg poll released this week shows her up 9 points over her biggest rival for the nomination, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

In one of her lighter moments on the campaign trail, Clinton admitted that singing and dancing might not be in her “astrological reading.”

“I want to be as good a president as Beyoncé is a performer,” Clinton said, wrapping up her first of two stops in Iowa on Wednesday.
