Hollywood Romance In Chicago: 10 Iconic Silver Screen Scenes (PHOTOS)

WATCH: Hollywood Romance In Chicago, 10 Iconic Scenes

Despite the city's reputation for brutally cold winters, deep-seated political corruption and deep-dish pizza bellies, Chicago has also been home to some of Hollywood's most iconically romantic, and often sexy, scenes to have ever graced the silver screen.

Over the years, the likes of Cruise and Roberts, Franco and Bullock -- plus, of course, the queen of on-screen romantic angst Molly Ringwald -- have all filmed some of the rom-commiest films of their careers here in the Windy City.

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we here at HuffPost Chicago consulted two local experts in the craft -- our resident film blogger Chris Krapek as well as local filmmaker-actor extraordinaire Stephen Cone, whose newest feature "Black Box" begins filming shortly -- to weigh in on the matter of which locally-shot and/or -set scenes stood out to them. We offered up our own favorites, as well.

The resultant 10 scenes, perhaps unsurprisingly, showcase a peculiar tendency of Hollywood producers to highlight the city's public transit -- and specifically, the El -- as unendingly romantic, following the lead of Craigslist, which last fall selected the CTA as the nation's most romantic subway or metro system.

Without further ado, we urge you to get in the mood, grab the Kleenex and settle in for a big dose of on-screen schmaltz. Have a favorite scene we missed? Let us know!
