Hope Solo Save: U.S. Goalkeeper Makes Diving Stop Against Canada (VIDEO)

With the U.S. women's soccer team was clinging to a 1-0 lead against Canada just before halftime, Hope Solo showed why she's considered the best women's goalkeeper in the world.

Canadian Christine Sinclair received a pass outside the box with three U.S. defenders in front of her. Sinclair then dribbled to her left, found some open space and fired a low shot to the far post. But the ball deflected off the right foot of a U.S. defender and was redirected to Solo's left.

The star goalkeeper stopped her momentum to the right side and dove across the net, barely stopping the ball from rolling into the goal with her outstretched left hand. Solo then quickly crawled over and dove on top of the ball. Canada's Kaylyn Kyle came charging in after the rebound but Solo was on the ball. Although Kyle may have forced the ball over the line, she would have had to strike it while Solo had it wrapped up, meaning it would have been called back all the same.

Canada tied the game in the 57th minute, beating Solo with a shot off the crossbar. But Amy Rodriguez scored with five minute remaining to give the U.S. women a 2-1 victory on Saturday in their last match before the London Olympics.
