WATCH: Ever Wonder How Olympic Snow Is Made?

It didn't come from the sky, but you can still eat it.

In this National Geographic video, we're shown how fake snow is created and distributed in order to help events like the Winter Olympics go off without a hitch. Using a lot of water, compressed air, "ice seeds," and a cold environment, the team from the SMI Snow Makers create powder meant to simulate two-week-old snow.

"But while Mother Nature takes hours or days to manufacture the crystals, SMI's machines make the snow in 3 to 15 seconds," the description accompanied with the video explains.

Joe VanderKelen, the president of SMI Snow Makers and a "second generation" snow maker, narrates this captivating video about the upcoming Sochi Olympic's most important ingredient.
