How To Clean Plastic Food Containers

How To Clean These Sometimes Stinky Containers

Plastic food containers are great because they allow us to save a lot of time (and money!) by storing leftover food so we can eat it later. The only problem is, over time they tend to become stained and smelly. But you don't have to throw them away. We have a great tip on how to clean and deodorize these receptacles.

First, rinse them with dishsoap and water. Then, fill the plastic storage with vinegar and allow this to sit for three minutes. Next, rinse out the vinegar and wash them again with soap and water. If your containers still have odors, place a piece of newspaper in them and allow this to sit overnight. To remove stains, rub lemon juice inside and let this sit in sunlight for a a few hours.
